Jared Dendy, MD

Dr. Dendy was born and raised in the New Orleans area. He earned his medical degree from the American University of the Caribbean School of Medicine, St. Maarten. Following graduation, he returned to New Orleans and completed his residency in internal medicine at Ochsner Medical Center (OMC), where he also served as chief resident. Dr. Dendy also completed a fellowship in endocrinology at OMC and now practices endocrinology at the Ochsner Jefferson Highway campus. Dr. Dendy is part of the endocrine multidisciplinary clinic that delivers a team-based approach to endocrine disorders (including thyroid nodules/thyroid cancer, thyroid goiter, parathyroid adenomas and adrenal nodules/tumors) that may require both medical and surgical treatment. He has a particular interest in disorders of the thyroid, and interprets diagnostic neck/thyroid ultrasounds and performs fine-needle aspiration biopsies of the thyroid. Dr. Dendy is board certified in internal medicine and endocrinology. He has also received his Endocrine Certification in Neck Ultrasound (ECNU) from the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists. He holds memberships in the American College of Physicians, the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists, the Endocrine Society and the American Thyroid Association.

Dr. Dendy was professional and patient during my visit with him about my thyroid issues. He listened to everything I had to say and all of my concerns then addressed everything! He was knowledgeable, and when he wasn’t, he told me he wasn’t sure and would have to do some research. I appreciated that very much! He was open to me trying dietary changes and natural solutions before putting me on medicine, but still insisted I take medicine first because of how high my levels are! I’m not excited about taking medicine, and I hope after my levels come down, he will help me to wean off the medicine and try natural solutions! I will update my review when that happens!

Excellent communication skills, very personable and good listener. He never rushes through the visit he ensures that all of my questions are answered. Dr Dendy has prescribed/provided me some of the most advanced diabetes management technology and medications available. Within two years my A1C went from 11.7 to 6.7. Considering the limits of his chosen profession, I am grateful and blessed to have Dr Dendy as my doctor.
