Jennifer Perone, MD, MS, is a surgical oncologist at Ochsner MD Anderson Cancer Center. Dr. Perone specializes in the care of patients with pancreas, liver stomach, gallbladder and bile duct tumors, adrenal masses and neuroendocrine tumors. Her special interest is in the care of patients with melanoma and sarcoma. Dr. Perone believes that every patient deserves the highest level of care and excellence when it comes to treating cancer. This includes care in a multi-disciplinary fashion; involving surgical oncologist, medical oncologist and radiation oncologists as well as a host of other specialties and professionals, to make sure that each patient receives cancer care specifically geared towards their needs and in keeping with national cancer guidelines. Dr. Perone also has a special interest in the role of palliative care in surgical oncology, specifically the role for surgery to alleviate suffering and symptoms even when cancer cure cannot be obtained. She became a cancer surgeon because of her love for patients and families. Dr. Perone recognizes that this is the most challenging time in patients lives and that of their families. It is her mission to walk with her patients every step of the way on their journey. Dr. Perone is board certified in both General Surgery and Complex General Surgical Oncology by the American Board of Surgery. She is a member of the Gold Humanism Honor Society, the American College of Surgeons (ACS), the Society of Surgical Oncology (SSO), the Society of Surgical Palliative Care, the Association for Academic Surgery (AAS) and the Catholic Medical Association (CMA). She has published multiple articles and book chapters and won multiple awards for her research and patient care. Dr. Perone is a Baton Rouge native and proud graduate of St. Josephs Academy. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her husband and their puppy, as well as family and friends.
