Biography
Jerome M. Volk III, MD, FAANS, is a pediatric neurosurgeon at Ochsner Health. Dr. Volk offers comprehensive care for conditions such as brain tumors, craniosynostosis, spina bifida and traumatic brain injuries. He has expertise in complex cranial and spinal procedures, including minimally invasive techniques.
Dr. Volk earned his medical degree from Louisiana State University School of Medicine in New Orleans in 2007. He then completed an internship in general surgery at LSU School of Medicine in New Orleans in 2009. Dr. Volk completed his neurological surgery residency at LSU Health Sciences Center in New Orleans and a pediatric neurosurgery fellowship at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine at Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago in 2016. He is board-certified by the American Board of Pediatric Neurosurgery and the American Board of Neurological Surgery.
Before joining Ochsner, Dr. Volk held several leadership and academic positions at hospitals in the Greater New Orleans area. He remains active in national neurosurgical societies, including the American Association of Neurological Surgeons and the Congress of Neurological Surgeons.
Dr. Volk is committed to providing patient-centered care and advancing pediatric neurosurgery through research and education. Outside of medicine, he enjoys outdoor activities and spending time with his family.
