Dr. James F. Mautner, M.D. and his staff of medical professionals are the best Orthopedic care specialists I have ever been affiliated with as a patient. There skills as Orthopedic care specialists are outstandingly, well polished; there professional, bedside mannerisums are ultimately calming. Dr. James F. Mautner and his staff of medical professionals, not only, have a sincere concern for the medical health of there patients, he and his medical staff honestly express' concern for the overall well-being of there patients' life. I think he is a great surgeon and I feel very lucky to have gotten him as my surgeon, hes very kind and is try to make you feel better physically and mentally, I crushed my leg about a month ago so I cant say hes given me the ability to walk again just yet but I trust him and his team. What I domt like is the oschner floor nurses they are very rude

Although there is only one review for Dr Mautner so far, it protrays him, his skill set, and his PA in a negative light. I have met him on numerous occasions and he was at all times gentle, humble, and kind. He is an Orthopedic Trauma Surgeon and I believe he had his training in the military as a medic, maybe even on the field. He fixes bones and puts people back together when they have been traumatically broken, sometimes shattered. He gave me back the ability to walk again, something I never thought I'd lose. I, for one would recommend him, and am thankful for his expertise and bedside manner.

Absolutely the best doctor ever! Truly a hero and a life saver! A man who really cares! Thank you just isn't enough but I truly am grateful with all my heart and soul and appreciate everything he did for me! May 24th 2014 I suffered a severe gsw to my left arm 12 gage almost took my life , I lost bone muscles tendons ligaments.... BUT GOD AND THIS MAN! I AM LEFT HANDED ODDS WERE AGAINST ME BUT HE DID IT!! I have my arm and basic uses bc of this man! His team was so kind and caring at that time too Thanks yall!! To anyone looking just know if you found him you have the best!

Dr. Mautner and his staff have been so kind, personable, accessible, professional and have helped me walk (haha- I couldn’t because my leg was useless:-) through a long, painful, and frustrating recovery. I’ve never felt dismissed nor been treated like I’m stupid during this time of trying to understand the depth of a serious injury and treatment protocol. (I shouldn’t have to even say that, but a lot of docs blow off your concerns and questions, and you leave with more questions than answers.) My only complaint is that the steel plate in my leg didn’t make me bionic ;-) Thank you, all of Ortho for your care.

Terrific job on broken femur suffered by our 102 year old mom. Installed a plate and “cables” to secure the bones. He is direct and professional, with a good connection to the patient. Mom is now 6 weeks post surgery, slowly progressing through physical therapy. Our family is thankful for his efforts. Michael

Dr. Mautner was knowledgeable and explained my injury and affected bones, muscles, and tendons. He was very moderate in his approach, explaining different options and letting me choose which worked best for me. He was also able to identify factors that pre-disposed me to the type of injury, and how to address them so this isn’t likely to happen again. He was empathic, patient, and answered all of my questions. Would highly recommend!

I'm healing! I'm relearning how to use the muscles in my right leg! I had almost completely lost mobility. Without Dr. Mautner's proper diagnosis and simple treatment of pes bursa, non surgically, I would still be sinking lower, lost about how to help myself ever recover my independence much less my previous athleticism. My overall physical wellness had spiraled downward and debilitating pain increased over two decades living with an IM rod in femur; everything I tried, including PT, made it worse. I fought hard to get better, to no avail. No physician identified the specific problem separate from the rod in leg, until Dr. Mautner diagnosed it without scans, just his expertise and willingness to listen and palpate (touch where it hurt.) I am forever grateful. Dr. Mautner is personable and real. Warm, and so smart. He is a real blessing. I appreciate him so very much. If you are frustrated by chronic knee pain Dr. Mautner can surely help.
