Biography

Dr. Joseph Tarsia practices vascular neurology at Ochsner Health. He was born and raised in New York and completed an undergraduate degree from Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore. He graduated from Tulane University School of Medicine in 2010 then stayed at Tulane to complete a 5-year combined Neurology and Internal Medicine residency program. He went on to complete a Vascular Neurology Fellowship at Harvard Medical School-Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston and then became part of the Ochsner Neurovascular Program in 2016. He is board certified in both neurology and internal medicine. Dr. Tarsia takes an active role in the cerebrovascular education curriculum of the Ochsner Neurology Residency Program. He is also the program director of the Vascular Neurology Fellowship Program. Dr. Tarsia directs the Cerebral Amyloid Angiopathy Clinic - a multidisciplinary clinic collaborating directly with our Cognitive/Behavioral Neurology team that cares specifically for patients suffering with this disease. His clinical interests include CAA (Cerebral Amyloid Angiopathy), inflammatory CAA (CAA-ri), ARIA (Amyloid related imaging abnormalities), hypertensive arteriopathy and chronic cerebral microvascular disease / small vessel ischemic disease and brain hemorrhage.
