Juan Vargas, MD

Juan Vargas, MD, specializes in obstetrics and gynecology at Ochsner Health in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Dr. Vargas received his medical degree from Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center (LSUHSC) in New Orleans in 2002. He went on to complete his residency in OB/GYN at LSUHSC in New Orleans in 2006, where he was awarded the OB/GYN Intern of the Year award. He then joined the LSU faculty as an assistant professor and was named Medical Student Site Director and Associate Residency Program Director during his tenure. He was recognized for his teaching by being nominated for the Excellence in Teaching award. Dr. Vargas is board-certified in obstetrics and gynecology. He has been on staff at Ochsner since 2013, and has been practicing medicine since 2002. Dr. Vargas currently sees patients at multiple clinic locations in Baton Rouge and delivers babies at Ochsner Medical Center - Baton Rouge. He provides care for all obstetric and gynecologic needs, including supervision of pregnancy (low and high risk), abnormal or painful menses, fibroids, PCOS, endometriosis, infertility, ovarian cysts, abnormal pap results, colposcopy, menopause and post-menopausal bleeding. He has a special clinical interest in minimally invasive and robotic surgery. He is the site head for women's services. Given his teaching background, Dr. Vargas strongly believes in patient education and helping guide patients in making their healthcare choices. He enjoys traveling and spending quality time with his family during his free time.

Very nice man. Explained everything in detail. Nurse, was very kind also.

I am so grateful to Dr. Juan Vargas for doing my hysterectomy. I’ve had endometriosis for decades and as my pelvic pain worsened over the years I delayed surgery for fear of a invasive surgery. After a few visits and being educated on a robotic approach I underwent hysterectomy and discharged home the same day. Incredible! I am so grateful for his skill hands, his thoroughness and expertise. Thankful for God’s merciful watch over me, placing Dr. Vargas in my path and Ochsner Medical Center Baton Rouge. The staff were all professional, respected my privacy and addressed my pain post-operatively.

Omg ! Dr. Vargas the most sweetest. , fastest , & efficient Dr. I know. He had me up & off the table in 24 minutes. Y’all any Csection go to Dr.V he is the best ! I felt no pain during surgery, didn’t even know he had started 😩😍

My experience with Dr.Vargas was very, very exceptional! The best part of my visit is his knowledge and expertise not only in his field of practice but even in a personal concern that I was having. I took the chance of asking his view of the matter of concern and not only did he answer my question but I left the office completely satisfied and content with his response. Dr. Vargas was on que with what I researched on the subject and much more information that I wasn't aware of. That's just one area of my time spent with Dr. Vargas. Another area was the unrushed persona that was portrayed. He really shows sincere personal interest in his patients and time is not a concern until you feel he's helped you in every way possible.
