Dr. Laura McCormick practices family medicine at Ochsner Health. She was born and raised in New Orleans, where she graduated from Isidore Newman High School. She attended college at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee, where she majored in biomedical engineering. She returned to New Orleans to attend medical school at Louisiana State University School of Medicine and then went on to complete a residency in family medicine at the Swedish Family Medicine Residency in Littleton, Colorado. During her residency training, Dr. McCormick pursued interests in medical Spanish though an elective rotation in Ecuador and served as resident representative to the patient safety committee. After concluding her residency training and obtaining her board certification, she worked for almost three years at a family medicine clinic in Littleton, Colorado, providing primary care to patients of all ages. Dr. McCormick is committed to patient education and empowering them to take an active role in their health. She strongly believes that good primary care is the foundation of good medical care and enjoys working with her patients on preventive health measures. She is happy to have returned home to the greater New Orleans area with her husband and two young boys and to join the Ochsner primary care team at the family medicine clinic in Kenner, Louisiana.
