Dr. Lauren McMahill is a family medicine doctor at Ochsner Medical Center. She was born in New York State and grew up between central New Jersey and the Hudson Valley region of New York. Soon after, she moved to Houma and worked as a paramedic in various towns throughout southeastern Louisiana. With the desire to become a physician, she began at Nicholls State University in Thibodaux. After graduating from Nicholls State, she was accepted into medical school at Louisiana State University in New Orleans. She completed residency at East Jefferson Family Medicine Residency in Metairie. Dr. McMahill's choice to become a family medicine physician stems from a desire to emphasize the importance of preventative medicine, and to treat a variety of patients and medical conditions. As a primary care practitioner, she places high value on the relationships formed with patients and the community. In addition to medicine, Dr. McMahill enjoys paddle boarding, traveling, gardening, knitting, and spending time with her dog and loved ones.

Dr. McMahill was able to diagnose me right away and I felt very listened to. She is an excellent clinician and included me in the decision process about which medication I was going to be prescribed. She was also able to answer all my questions which I appreciated. She has also helped me lose a significant amount of postpartum weight by making a great recommendation that worked for my lifestyle. I'm glad she was taking new patients when I needed a new PCP. Amazing experience with her!

I won't be going to anyone else! I've recommended Dr. McMahill to quite a few people including my daughter, who is no a patient of Dr. McMahill.

Yesterday's visit was aptly brief, so I'm also considering pervious visits with her. She has been enthusiastic about answering my questions, some of which were tangential to my medical issues. She has always asked me what I thought of potential treatment options, sometimes before telling me her recommendation. I mostly have no complaints - most of the physicians I have dealt with have been fine communicators - but thinking back on it, I think she's even better than usual on these dimensions. I don't know whether it was clever of her to order a testosterone test or whether any doctor would have done so with my set of symptoms, but that's the only experience that really stands out in my mind.

This was my 1st visit with this provider & I was very pleased how thorough & personable Dr was.

Dr. McMahill is a very talented physician who is comprehensive in her approach to internal medicine. She is compassionate and patient, taking time to answer questions and provide support. While I see a lot of doctors due to my complicated health condition, I am confident that Dr. McMahill will keep her eye on me in terms of medication interactions and side effects, as well as lab work. Also, I am glad that she is monitoring my recovery and providing encouragement. I strongly recommend Dr. McMahill as an internist and primary care physician.

My mom went to her once and referred me, stating I would like her and she was right! Dr. McMahill listened to my concerns and addressed them, she was very friendly, I was having a hard time finding a primary I was comfortable with, so I’m glad I found her. Also her staff was very nice

She is patient and caring and listens. It was the first good experience I have had in health care in a long time. I didn’t feel rushed and she heard me out. She’s an amazing doctor, the type that can really make a difference in a horrific system.
