Dr. Linnea Perkins received a Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Xavier University of Louisiana in 1998 and worked as a pharmacist at Touro Infirmary for 10 years before she decided to pursue a career in medicine. She then received a Medicine degree from Louisiana State University, School of Medicine in New Orleans, Louisiana in 2012. She completed an internal medicine internship and residency with the Ochsner Clinic Foundation in New Orleans in 2015. She is board certified in Internal Medicine and became a certified diplomate of American Board of Obesity Medicine in 2021.Her special areas of interest include obesity medicine, complementary medicine and preventative health. Dr. Perkins is a member of the American Medical Association, the American College of Physicians, the Obesity Medicine Association and The Obesity Society. She believes that obesity is an undertreated condition that leads to many of the diseases that Primary Care Physicians manage every day. Dr. Perkins hopes to help improve the way that obesity is treated at Ochsner.
