Biography

Louis Monnig, MD, MS, practices obstetrics and gynecology at Ochsner Health. He received his medical degree from Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center in New Orleans, in 2019. He completed his internship and residency at the University of Louisville in Louisville, Kentucky. Dr. Monnig served as chief resident for academics and education from 2022-2023 and was an active member of the Kentucky American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists.

Dr. Monnig performs full-spectrum general obstetric and gynecologic care from adolescence to pregnancy to menopause. He is particularly interested in infectious diseases affecting pregnancy, including HIV and hepatitis C, pre-exposure prophylaxis and STI prevention and contraception management. In his free time, Dr. Monnig enjoys New Orleans festivals, spending time with his dogs and cats and trying new restaurants.
