Dr. Sholas received both MD and PhD degrees from Harvard Medical School in Boston in 1998, and completed his internship and residency at University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio. He completed his fellowship in pediatric rehabilitation in 2002 at the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago (Shirley Ryan Ability Lab).

Dr. Maurice Sholas is board certified in pediatric rehabilitation medicine by American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. He has been on staff at Ochsner since January 2020. Dr. Sholas cares for children with physical disabilities and does procedures to manage spasticity and movement disorders. He enjoys caring for children that have problems with physical function from genetic disorders, brain injury, spinal cord injury, limb deficiencies, spina bifida, muscular dystrophy and cerebral palsy.
