Murilo Bastos, MD, practices rheumatology at Ochsner Health in Slidell, LA. Dr. Bastos has expertise in the diagnosis and treatment of autoimmune and inflammatory rheumatic diseases, providing comprehensive care for patients with conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, psoriatic arthritis, gout, osteoporosis and other musculoskeletal and connective tissue disorders. He is committed to working closely with his patients to develop individualized treatment plans that address their needs and goals.

Dr. Bastos earned his medical degree from the Federal University of Bahia in Brazil. He completed his Internal Medicine residency at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai West and Morningside in New York City, followed by a Rheumatology fellowship at Montefiore Medical Center/Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York City.

Dr. Bastos is dedicated to providing thoughtful, evidence-based care while building strong relationships with his patients. He values listening to their concerns, helping them understand their conditions and working together to improve their health, function and quality of life.

Outside of medicine, Dr. Bastos enjoys working out, watching soccer, traveling and exploring new restaurants.
