Nitin Sabharwal, MD, FACC, practices cardiovascular medicine at Ochsner Health. Dr. Sabharwal has expertise in preventive cardiology, advanced cardiac imaging and complex cardiac care. He offers comprehensive evaluation and management of conditions such as coronary artery disease, valvular heart disease, cardiomyopathies and cardiovascular risk disorders.

Dr. Sabharwal earned his medical degree from N.K.P. Salve Institute of Medical Sciences in Nagpur, India. He completed his internal medicine residency at Maimonides Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York, and he served as chief resident at Montefiore Medical Center in the Bronx, New York. Following this, he completed his cardiovascular disease fellowship at Tulane University in New Orleans. He is board-certified in internal medicine, cardiovascular disease, echocardiography, nuclear cardiology, vascular interpretation (RPVI), and cardiovascular computed tomography.

Dr. Sabharwal previously served as Assistant Professor of Medicine, Assistant Program Director for the Cardiovascular Disease Fellowship, and Director of Cardiac Critical Care at Tulane. He has extensive experience caring for patients with high-acuity cardiovascular conditions, including cardiogenic shock physiology, advanced heart failure syndromes and mechanical circulatory support. This experience informs his prevention-focused outpatient care. He is a two-time recipient of the C. Thorpe Ray Clinical Cardiology Teacher of the Year Award and is an active member of the American College of Cardiology.

Dr. Sabharwal is dedicated to providing thoughtful, individualized and physiology-based cardiovascular care with an emphasis on risk reduction, early detection and imaging-guided therapy. Outside of medicine, he enjoys fitness, technology and spending time with his family.
