Rachel Bernard, DO

My son had been sick for over a week where he could not keep anything down and had horrible stomach pain. After 2 ER visits and 1 PCP visit we get recommended to Ochsner to see a pediatric gastroenterologist. There were a few locations to choose from and had asked me which one was closest the to me. I said, "distance is not an issue. I want the first appointment you have available for my son." That's when I was told about Dr. Bernard. We get in to see her and arrive 20 mins early. We were in the waiting room less than 5 mins before we were called back to see her. She walked in even quicker than that to our room. He needed a scope done after X-Rays, CT scans, and blood work didn't show anything. She told us that normally that takes days or weeks to schedule and that's when I didn't let her finish her sentence before cutting her off and said, " we can't wait that long with tears in my eyes." I had seen my son in pain long enough and I couldn't take it anymore. I could only imagine how he felt. She patted my knee and said, "but we don't have that kind of time. I will admit him into the hospital today and have the procedure done tmrw." And that she did. She was genuinely concerned and that's exactly the kind of doctor you want. Especially when it's your child. I do my research when it comes to them and knowing that she's board certified made everything better. 10/10 I highly recommend Dr. Bernard for anyone who is looking for a pediatric gastroenterologist. She is the absolute best and I'm forever thankful for her and her staff.

She is absolutely fabulous. She is very thorough and wants to get to the bottom of the issue. Helped my daughter with a gastric issue that plagued her for months. Very compassionate and professional. I would highly recommend her to those needing a pediatric gastroenterologist.

She never rushes through the visit and is very thorough in her examination—physically, mentally, and emotionally. Love how she works with the patient and parents to find the best solution for our daughter.

We love Dr. Bernard!! She has been amazing with our complex little one. Dr. Bernard is caring, kind, and very knowledgeable. She is simply amazing!!
