Dr. Amedee received his medical degree from LSU School of Medicine in New Orleans in 1981. He stayed in New Orleans to complete his internship and residency at LSU Health Sciences Center/Charity Hospital of Louisiana. He completed his fellowship in otology/neurotology at Albert Ludwig’s University in Freiburg, West Germany in 1988. He came to Ochsner Medical Center in 2007 as chairman of the Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery Department and has subsequently served in numerous educational roles, teaching medical students, residents and fellows. He is currently the Dean of Medical Education at Ochsner and Head of the University of Queensland - Ochsner Clinical School.
Dr. Amedee is board-certified by the American Board of Otolaryngology and has been practicing in his specialty since 1986. Dr. Amedee is a medical otologist specializing in the treatment of hearing loss and balance abnormalities. He enjoys gallery- and museum-hopping and traveling with his wife in his free time.
