Shannon Lovell, DSW, LCSW-BACS, is a licensed clinical social worker who provides psychotherapy to children, adolescents and adults. Dr. Lovell works with individuals, families and diverse populations, with clinical expertise in trauma-informed care, mood and adjustment disorders, self-esteem issues, grief and loss, and family systems interventions.  

Lovell earned a Doctor of Social Work from Tulane University and a Master of Social Work from Barry University, where she focused on mental health, social policy and counseling across the lifespan. 

She joined Ochsner Health in 2008 and currently serves as section head of social work in the Department of Psychiatry. She contributes to institutional initiatives through her work with the Healthy State Initiative, the Behavioral Health Council and the Psychiatry Department Leadership Taskforce. Her scholarly contributions include peer-reviewed research and publications in clinical social work. 

Dr. Lovell is also dedicated to advancing the social work profession. She provides board-approved clinical supervision for licensed master social workers pursuing licensure and serves as a practicum field instructor for MSW student interns.
