Trung Tran, MD

Dr. Trung Nam Tran is a board-certified endocrinologist practicing at Ochsner Health Center - West Bank Campus. He has a special clinical interest in diabetes management, thyroid disorders and osteoporosis. Additionally, he is board-certified in internal medicine, bringing years of experience as a hospitalist before transitioning to Endocrinology. Dr. Tran earned his medical degree from Florida State University College of Medicine in Tallahassee, Florida, in 2014. He then completed his Internal Medicine Residency and fellowship in endocrinology at Ochsner Medical Center in New Orleans in 2017 and 2020, respectively. Dr. Trung Tran has been on staff at Ochsner Health Center - West Bank Campus since 2020.

Dr. Tran had reviewed my record even before coming in to see me, so was already quite knowledgeable about my condition. He offered detailed description of my diagnosis and treatment options. I was pleased and impressed with him.

Dr Tran was great. He knew I was a retired nurse but did not assume I knew what he was talking about. His explanation of my condition was through. He allowed for questions and answered them. He gave me options and facilitated the next step.I would definitely recommend him to others.

Dr Tran was a welcome relief after difficulties I had getting appointment. Plan for care exceeded expectations.

Dr Tran, what can I say. I could tell he is passionate about what he does, which allowed me to trust his suggestions. He was very direct and basically told me that it was my choice. Insulin or change your eating and exercise habits. I did not want to go on insulin so he worked with me and gave me time to get my A1C down. I followed his advice with prescriptions, and although expensive he said it’s worth it. My A1C went from a 10 to a 5.8 in 6 months. I was not good at keeping record of my daily glucose levels so he prescribed a monitor so I could test more often. Today I’m down about 15lbs and off 1 medication and cut another in half. Now only taking 1mg Glimeperide and Trulicity for weight management. Thanks Dr Tran
