Veronica Gillispie-Bell, MD, is an obstetrician and gynecologist (OB/GYN) at Ochsner Health in Kenner, Louisiana. She specializes in OB/GYN care for patients of all ages and provides care for common conditions like birth control, annual women’s wellness visits, pregnancy, and specializes in heavy menstrual bleeding and fibroids. Dr. Gillispie-Bell is also highly skilled in advanced laparoscopic and robotic-assisted surgeries.

Dr. Gillispie-Bell serves as the system medical director of health outcomes and medical director of the quality for women’s services across the Ochsner Health system. She also serves as the medical director of the Minimally Invasive Center for the Treatment of Uterine Fibroids.

She earned her medical degree from Meharry Medical College in Nashville, Tennessee, completed her residency at Ochsner Health in New Orleans, and holds a Master of Applied Science in patient safety and healthcare quality from Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health in Baltimore, Maryland. She also holds certification in diversity and inclusion from Cornell University. She is recognized nationally for her care and expertise in uterine fibroids.

As medical director of the Louisiana Perinatal Quality Collaborative and the Pregnancy-Associated Mortality Review for the Louisiana Department of Health, Dr. Gillispie-Bell is a leading force in improving birth outcomes and maternal health in Louisiana and across the country. Dr. Gillispie-Bell testified before Congress, led congressional briefings and was an invited speaker at The White House Maternal Health Day of Action, where she advocated for policy improvements in maternal care and outcomes.

Dr. Gillispie-Bell has held numerous leadership roles on both local and national platforms, and her clinical and advocacy work has earned her wide recognition. She has been quoted in national outlets such as USA Today and The New York Times and has appeared as a featured speaker at the Essence Festival, on Good Morning America, CNBC, Scripps News and the 1619 Project Docuseries.

When she’s not working, Dr. Gillispie-Bell enjoys spending time with her husband Troy and her son Gregory, playing the piano and hanging out with friends.
