Willard A. Moore III, MD, serves as section head of hip and knee replacement for the Department of Orthopedics at Ochsner Health, caring for patients across the New Orleans and Jefferson communities. A board-certified, fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon, he specializes in primary and revision hip and knee replacement and is known for helping patients return to an active lifestyle through advanced surgical care.

Dr. Moore offers modern, minimally invasive treatment options tailored to each patient’s goals, including direct anterior approach total hip replacement and robot-assisted total and partial knee replacement. His approach combines leading-edge technology with thoughtful preoperative planning and close postoperative follow-up to optimize recovery and long-term outcomes.

He earned his bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Princeton University, where he also completed certificates in engineering biology and materials science. He received his medical degree from Vanderbilt University and completed orthopedic surgery residency at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, serving as chief resident and receiving the Kurt W. Niemann Award as the outstanding orthopedic resident in his graduating class.

Following residency, Dr. Moore spent over a year working as an orthopedic trauma surgeon at Tenwek Mission Hospital in Kenya. He then completed the prestigious Engh Fellowship in joint replacement at the Anderson Orthopedic Clinic in Alexandria, Virginia. Prior to joining Ochsner Health in 2019, he served as medical director of the Saint Thomas Joint Replacement Institute, Midtown Campus, in Nashville, Tennessee.
