Whether your pregnancy is considered low-risk or high-risk, you can rest assured that Ochsner Family Birthing Services: Baptist offers the most advanced labor and delivery care in the safest possible environment. Our expert team of board-certified physicians, nurse-midwives, skilled labor and delivery nurses, and lactation specialists are dedicated to delivering the highest quality of care. Additionally, a maternal fetal medicine specialist is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, to ensure you always have access to expert care when you need it.

Ochsner’s TeleStork Program provides an extra layer of safety and support during labor. The program uses advanced technology to provide continuous monitoring by our maternal fetal medicine team. This allows us to respond as quickly as possible if concerns arise.

TeleStork also:

• Decreases the rate of unplanned cesarean sections, or C-sections

• Improves birth outcomes for infants

• Reduces the need for neonatal intensive care

Ochsner Family Birthing Services: Baptist is located in New Orleans within the Ochsner Baptist Women’s Pavilion at Ochsner Baptist - A Campus of Ochsner Medical Center.

We provide a comfortable, peaceful environment featuring birthing suites with a home-like feel. In addition to world-class labor and delivery care and spacious birthing suites, Ochsner Family Birthing Services: Baptist offers several amenities for patients and visitors, including:

Ochsner Baptist Women’s Pavilion is home to the region’s only level 4 neonatal intensive care unit (NICU). This allows our maternal fetal medicine specialists to provide comprehensive, specialized care to premature babies and babies with serious health conditions. It also allows new mothers with infants in the NICU to stay in the same hospital as their babies.

When new moms aren’t able to be next to their babies in the NICU, they can view their babies in real-time with our secure NicView webcam system.

We know breastfeeding often comes with extra challenges for mothers of preterm babies. For infants with medical needs, Mothers’ Milk Bank of Louisiana at Ochsner Baptist can provide donor milk to help babies get the nutrients they need to decrease their risk of complications and infections.

Ochsner Family Birthing Services: Baptist offers expert lactation services to new moms and moms-to-be, including:

• Prenatal breastfeeding classes. Monthly classes can teach you the basics of breastfeeding.

• Prenatal consultations. Scheduling a lactation consultation before your baby is born can help you prepare for breastfeeding and get answers to your questions. During a prenatal consultation, Ochsner certified lactation consultants can educate you about the principles of breastfeeding, fit you for a nursing bra, help you create a breastfeeding plan for returning to school or work, and recommend appropriate breast pumps and other supplies.

• Lactation counseling. Once your baby arrives, our certified lactation consultants can provide personalized lactation counseling based on your unique needs. Virtual visits may be available in some cases.

• Lactation Warm Line. If you have a breastfeeding question at any time of day or night, call 504-842-5210 to leave a message for our lactation specialists. They will return your call as soon as possible.

• Supplies for breastfeeding. Through our Lactation Program, Ochsner Family Birthing Services: Baptist offers a wide range of breastfeeding supplies for sale. Breast pump rentals are also available.

We host a range of prenatal and childbirth classes and educational opportunities to help you prepare for birth and parenting.
