Meet Our Endocrine Surgeons

Our endocrine surgeons are board-certified in general surgery, fellowship-trained in endocrine surgery, and hold a Focused Practice Designation from the American Board of Surgery in adult complex thyroid and parathyroid surgery (FPD-ACTPS).

The Ochsner endocrine surgeons specialize in endocrine surgical oncology and are dedicated to treating endocrine disorders, focusing on surgery of the adrenal, parathyroid, and thyroid glands.   

Our expert high volume endocrine surgeons are board certified in general surgery, fellowship trained in endocrine surgery and recognized with a Focused Practice Designation from the American Board of Surgery in adult complex thyroid and parathyroid surgery (FPD-ACTPS). 

The endocrine surgery team uses state-of-the-art technology to enhance recovery and minimize scarring.  This includes intraoperative nerve monitoring, minimally invasive techniques, rapid parathyroid hormone (PTH) assay for parathyroid disease, and both robotic and retroperitoneal adrenal surgery.  The endocrine surgeons manage complex and re-operative surgery for invasive, recurrent, or challenging endocrine pathologies. provide comprehensive and personalized surgical care as part of the multidisciplinary endocrine team at Ochsner. 

Meet our team

Jessica Dahle

Jessica Dahle, MD

Dr. Jessica Dahle received her Doctor of Medicine degree from Tufts University School of Medicine in Boston.  She also received her Master of Biomedical Sciences degree from Tufts University. She went on to complete her general surgery residency at the University of Massachusetts Medical School – Baystate in Springfield, Massachusetts and completed her fellowship training in endocrine surgery at Duke University in Durham, North Carolina. 

Dr. Dahle grew up in Connecticut, attended Syracuse University where she played field hockey, and moved to New Orleans in 2021 after completing her surgical training.  She misses the four seasons of New England, but has embraced New Orleans as her new home and enjoys golfing year round, running on the streetcar line, and exploring the food scene around town.  Dr. Dahle loves traveling to see family and looks forward to beach trips in the summer and skiing during the winter months with her siblings, niece, nephew, and cousins.

Adwoa1

Adwoa Opoku-Boateng, MD

Dr. Adwoa Opoku-Boateng earned her Doctor of Medicine degree from Loma Linda University School of Medicine in Loma Linda, California.  She completed her general surgery residency at the Ochsner before pursuing fellowship training in endocrine surgery at a combined program with UW in Madison Wisconsin, Duke University in Durham, North Carolina, and MCW in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.   

A California native, Dr. Opoku-Boateng first returned to New Orleans in 2014 after her fellowship training to help establish the Endocrine Multidisciplinary Program.  Having lived in the city through both Hurricane Katrina and the Covid-19 pandemic, she was deeply inspired by the resilience and spirit of the New Orleans community -  qualities that continue to draw her back. After several years in Arizona, she returned to New Orleans in the fall of 2024 to help lead the development thyroid radiofrequency ablation (RFA) program.  

Embracing the “small town, big city” character of New Orleans, Dr. “O,” as her patients affectionately call her, also holds a deep commitment to global surgery and advancing access to care worldwide. 

Outside of medicine, she, her husband, and their two children love traveling-especially when water is nearby-visiting the Audubon Nature Institute, and introducing their kids to new cuisines, cultures, and music.

Scott 1

Elliot J. Scott, MD

Dr. Scott received his Doctor of Medicine degree from LSU - New Orleans. He completed residency in general surgery at Virginia Mason in Seattle, Washington and fellowship in endocrine surgery at Mt. Sinai in New York City.  

Dr. Scott grew up in Abbeville, Louisiana, just south of Lafayette, where he spent summers working on a farm before going to college. He now lives in New Orleans and enjoys travel, walking and biking around the city, and good food.
