Carol Meyer, MD is a hand surgeon at Ochsner Health, treating patients in Jefferson and New Orleans, Louisiana. She specializes in conditions of the hand, wrist, elbow, and shoulder, including Dupuytren’s disease, basilar thumb arthritis, carpal tunnel syndrome, trigger finger, tendon injuries, nerve compression syndromes and complex fractures, using both minimally invasive techniques and state-of-the-art surgical interventions to restore function and reduce pain. Dr. Meyer offers advanced surgical procedures, including the Touch thumb total joint arthroplasty, a cutting-edge technique that preserves the trapezium bone in the wrist while restoring thumb strength, range of motion, and function. She also performs comprehensive orthopedic surgery, hand and wrist reconstruction, and personalized rehabilitation plans designed to improve strength, mobility and long-term health.

Dr. Meyer earned her medical degree from the University of Arkansas College of Medicine in Little Rock and completed her residency at Tulane Medical Center in New Orleans. She further honed her expertise with a fellowship in hand and upper extremity orthopedics at the University of Alabama in Birmingham. Board-certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery in both orthopedics and hand surgery, Dr. Meyer has been practicing in Metairie since 2013 and joined the Ochsner Health team in October 2020.

In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Meyer is an associate professor dedicated to training the next generation of orthopedic surgeons. She is passionate about educating residents and fellows, sharing her knowledge and experience to advance the field of orthopedic and hand surgery.
