Dr. Chad A. Hamilton is a gynecologic oncologist at Ochsner MD Anderson Cancer Center. He joined the Ochsner Gynecologic Oncology team in 2020, and also serves as associate research director for the Ochsner Cancer Institute. Prior to his return to New Orleans, he lived in the Washington, D.C. area where he retired from the Air Force in 2018. He was the chief of gynecologic oncology at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland; program director of the National Capital Consortium Fellowship in Gynecologic Oncology; and the principal investigator of the department of Defense Gynecologic Cancer Translational Research Center of Excellence. During his military service, Dr. Hamilton was promoted to the rank of Colonel and completed a deployment as surgeon and obstetrician / gynecologist at Bagram Air Base, Afghanistan, in 2008. He was subsequently awarded the Army Commendation Medal for meritorious service. Dr. Hamilton was twice awarded the Meritorious Service Medal and two Special Experience Identifiers from the Air Force Medical Service in recognition of excellence in clinical and academic teaching and for exceptional professional abilities. In his duties, he also served as a consultant to the National Cancer Institute and the White House Medical Unit. Dr. Hamilton has published over 80 scientific articles, reviews and book chapters. He is a subspecialty board examiner for the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology, has served on multiple national committees including the board of directors of the Foundation for Women's Cancer and was a programmatic panel member for the Congressionally Directed Medical Research Program. Dr. Hamilton received his undergraduate degree with academic distinction in biology at the United States Air Force Academy and his medical degree with honors from the Tulane University School of Medicine. He completed his residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Wilford Hall USAF and Brooke Army Medical Centers in San Antonio, Texas, and his fellowship in gynecologic oncology at Stanford University and the University of California at San Francisco.
