Dr. David Leslie is a primary care sports medicine physician who serves as a team physician for several professional teams, colleges, and high schools in New Orleans. He is one of the head medical physicians for the New Orleans Saints and is involved with concussion diagnosis and management in the NFL. He helps to provide injury and medical care for Loyola University New Orleans, the University of New Orleans, Delgado Community College, Xavier University of Louisiana, and Dillard University. He is also very involved with soccer in Louisiana as he is a head primary care sports medicine physician for the New Orleans Jesters and Louisiana Fire Juniors. He is also a Clinical Director for Special Olympics Louisiana. In addition to covering athletic events at high school, collegiate, and professional levels, Dr. Leslie also has a passion for ringside medicine. He is an active member of the Association of Ringside Physicians. He is a USA Boxing certified physician and has covered local and national boxing events. He also covers professional wrestling and professional and amateur MMA events since 2014. He is board-certified in family medicine and sports medicine. He also is an active member of Ochsner's Concussion Management Program. He is trained in Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine and uses it regularly in his practice. He also is trained in diagnostic ultrasound and uses ultrasound guidance for injections, including platelet-rich plasma and adipose-derived mesenchymal stem cell injections. Dr. Leslie is an active member of the American Osteopathic Academy of Sports Medicine, the American Medical Society for Sports Medicine, and the American College of Osteopathic Family Physicians. He completed his family medicine residency at McLaren Greater Lansing through Michigan State University and his sports medicine fellowship at Edward Via Virginia College of Osteopathic Medicine/Virginia Tech, where he served as an associate team physician for Virginia Tech and Radford University athletics. Dr. Leslie has a specific interest in teaching. He has been clinical faculty at both Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine and Edward Via Virginia College of Osteopathic Medicine and has taught medical students, residents, and fellows in the clinical and classroom setting. He is originally from Michigan and is married to his wife, Lauren. They have three daughters, Caroline, Margaret, and Eleanore.
