Biography

Dennis Kay, MD, specializes in radiology at Ochsner Health. A New Orleans native, Dr. Kay received his undergraduate education at Tulane University where he was elected to Phi Beta Kappa. He earned his medical degree from Tulane University School of Medicine. He completed his Internship and Radiology Residency at Ochsner Foundation Hospital in New Orleans and served as Chief Resident during his senior year. He then completed a Fellowship in Vascular and Interventional Radiology at Harvard Medical School/Beth Israel Hospital in Boston. Dr. Kay is a diplomate of the American Board of Radiology and he has earned a Certificate of Added Qualification in Vascular and Interventional Radiology. Dr. Kay is a former Board Member of the New Orleans Radiology Society, a Past President of the Radiological Society of Louisiana and a Past President of the Radiology Section of the Southern Medical Association. He has served as Councilor for the American College of Radiology and Oral Examiner for the American Board of Radiology. He has also served as Chairman of the Technical Exhibits Committee for the Radiological Society of North America. He is a Fellow of the American College of Radiology and a Fellow of the Society of Interventional Radiology. Dr. Kay joined the staff at Ochsner Clinic in 1986. He served as Section Head of Interventional Radiology from 1990 to 1999 and Associate Chairman of the Department of Radiology from 1999 to 2006. He served as Interim Chairman of the Department of Radiology at Ochsner Medical Center New Orleans from May 2006 to December 2006. In January 2007, he was appointed Chairman of the Radiology Department at Ochsner Medical Center and later that year he was appointed System Chair of Radiology for the Ochsner Health System. Dr. Kay stepped down from that role in 2024 after serving as Radiology System Chair for 17 years. Dr. Kay served two terms on the Board of Directors for Ochsner Health System and he is a Past President of the Medical Staff of Ochsner Clinic Foundation.
