Dr. Diego Lara practices fetal cardiology and pediatric cardiology at Ochsner Health. He received his medical degree in 2008 from Tulane University School of Medicine in New Orleans. He went on to complete his internship and residency at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. He completed his fellowship in Pediatric and Fetal Cardiology at Baylor College of Medicine/Texas Children's Hospital. Dr. Lara is board certified by the American Board of Pediatrics and has been on staff at Ochsner since 2016. Dr. Lara's special interests are in fetal cardiology, quality improvement and patient safety. He is the Chief Quality Officer for the Department of Pediatrics. He is the co-director of the Ochsner Fetal Diagnosis and Care Program. He is a site co-investigator in the Phase IIb Efficacy Study of Umbilical Cord Blood Mononuclear Cell Intramyocardial Injection for Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome (HLHS) and HLHS Variants trial.
