Biography
Dr. Gomes is board-certified by American Board of Medical Specialties in internal medicine and the subspecialty of pulmonary disease. He has been on staff at Ochsner since 1993 and practicing medicine since 1980. He is the former chief of medicine and director of the sleep lab at the Ochsner Medical Center - Baton Rouge. Dr. Gomes has an interest in occupational lung disease and is a certified NIOSH B reader of chest radiographs. He performs cardiopulmonary exercise testing, bronchoscopy and thoracentesis. He continues to have a special clinical interest in pneumoconiosis (dust diseases of the lung) and sleep disorders. Dr. Gomes enjoys watching LSU baseball in his free time.
