Gustavo A. Diaz-Mercado, MD, practices anesthesiology at Ochsner Health. Dr. Diaz-Mercado completed his medical education at Ponce Health Sciences University in his native Puerto Rico. He graduated with honors in 2014 and was a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society. He then completed three years of a urologic surgery residency at Mount Sinai Medical Center of Florida. He then transitioned to the field of anesthesiology at Ochsner Medical Center - New Orleans in 2018 where he completed residency in 2021.

After two years of private practice in South Florida, Dr. Diaz-Mercado returned to Ochsner Medical Center - New Orleans in 2023, where his clinical interests are cardiothoracic anesthesia and regional anesthesia. He is committed to resident education as site supervisor for the community practice rotation at Ochsner Medical Center - Kenner for the Ochsner Anesthesiology residency program.

Dr. Diaz-Mercado is board-certified by the American Board of Anesthesiology and the National Board of Echocardiography in Basic Perioperative Transesophageal Echocardiography.
