Biography
Dr. Jackie Ball is a licensed psychologist at Ochsner Medical Center who specializes in the treatment of trauma-related disorders, depression, anxiety, emotion regulation difficulties and associated symptoms. Dr. Ball received her graduate training at Louisiana Tech University and completed her predoctoral internship and postdoctoral fellowship at the New Orleans Veterans Administration hospital. She sees patients for psychotherapy in both individual and group formats, and she is the lead psychologist for the Behavioral Medicine Unit. Dr. Ball is committed to using evidence-based psychotherapies. She values being authentic in her clinical interactions with clients and providing a comfortable and safe treatment environment. She specializes in cognitive behavioral therapy, or CBT, an approach that helps clients identify and change unhelpful patterns of thinking, problematic behaviors and negative emotional responses. Dr. Ball has received extensive training and experience in specific forms of CBT, including prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy for trauma-related disorders, CBT for depression, skills training in affective and interpersonal regulation and CBT for insomnia. As a mother of two boys, she has developed a special interest in treating perinatal mood and anxiety disorders, as well as traumatic birth and perinatal loss. She is a member of Postpartum Support International and certified in perinatal mental health by this organization.
