James Rini, MD is a behavioral neurologist specializing in the diagnosis and treatment of memory and cognitive disorders at the Ochsner Neuroscience Institute in New Orleans, Louisiana. He works with patients experiencing changes in memory, language, behavior and problem-solving skills to identify the cause of their symptoms and create personalized treatment plans. Dr. Rini specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of Alzheimer’s disease, cerebral amyloid angiopathy, hereditary amyloidosis, mild cognitive impairment, frontotemporal dementia, Lewy body dementia, vascular dementia, aphasia, cognitive decline and other disorders affecting the brain and nervous system. Using advanced diagnostic tools, including cognitive testing, brain imaging, laboratory studies, amyloid PET scans, functional MRI (fMRI) and plasma (blood-based) biomarkers, he provides accurate diagnoses and personalized treatment plans. Dr. Rini also offers innovative therapies, including anti-amyloid treatments such as Leqembi and Kisunla, to help patients manage symptoms and improve quality of life.

Dr. Rini earned his medical degree and a master's degree in public health from New York Medical College in 2015. He completed an internship in internal medicine and a residency in neurology at the University of South Alabama, where he served as chief resident, in 2019. He then completed a fellowship in behavioral neurology at the University of California San Francisco Memory and Aging Center in 2021, one of the leading Alzheimer's research programs in the country. Dr. Rini has been a member of the Ochsner Health medical staff since 2021 and has been practicing medicine since 2015. He is certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.
