A native of New Orleans, Jennifer Barrett Scheuermann earned her Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Sciences from the University of South Alabama in Mobile. She then completed her medical training at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas, where she earned her Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies. She is board-certified by the NCCPA and has been practicing medicine since 2001. She has been on staff at Ochsner in the hepatology department since 2008. She has previously practiced in both gastroenterology and general hepatology, but has always had a special clinical interest in Hepatitis C.

Since 2011, Jennifer's practice has focused solely on the evaluation and treatment of Hepatitis C. She helped to develop the Ochsner HCV Specialty Clinic and has educated numerous health professionals in the Gulf South region on the management of Hepatitis C. She is also a member of the America Association for the Study of Liver Diseases. When not working, she enjoys spending time with her family and can often be found trying to find a little bit of shade at her sons’ sporting events.
