A native of Hungary, Dr. Kalmar graduated summa cum laude from the SemmelweisMedical School of Budapest. After serving as a Clinical Instructor and Assistant Professor of Radiology at Semmelweis Medical School of Budapest, he completed his internship and residency training in Sweden at Sabbatsberg, Lowenstromska and Danderyds Hospitals as well as the Psychiatric Hospital of Beckomberga. He also completed a radiology residency at Ochsner, where he served as Chief Resident. He is board certified in radiology and has been on staff at Ochsner since 1978. He is a Clinical Professor of Radiology at Tulane University Medical School. Among his numerous professional obligations, Dr. Kalmar has served as the Chairman of the Radiology Section of the Southern Medical Association. Dr. Kalmar speaks Swedish, French and Hungarian and reads German and Russian. He is also a former World Champion and an Olympic Bronze Medal medal winner in Saber Fencing and an International and Olympic Fencing Judge for the USA.
