Peter Nguyen, PA-C, is a physician assistant specializing in neurosurgery at Ochsner Health. He provides both non-surgical and surgical care for spinal and neurologic conditions, including degenerative disc disease, herniated discs, pinched nerves and nerve pain in the spine, arms and legs. His expertise includes reconstructive and decompressive spinal surgery, as well as procedures involving small nerves, such as carpal tunnel release. Peter is dedicated to helping patients understand their conditions and treatment options, ensuring that they feel supported throughout their care journey.

A Gretna, Louisiana, native, Peter earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in neuroscience from Tulane University before completing his physician assistant training at Louisiana State University Health in Shreveport, Louisiana, where he graduated as valedictorian with recognition for academic excellence. He began his career at the Spine Institute of Louisiana, practicing alongside Mayo-trained neurosurgeon Dr. Andrew Utter before returning to the Greater New Orleans in 2025 to join the Ochsner Neuroscience Institute, where he looks forward to growing his expertise to encompass all dimensions of neurosurgery.

Outside of medicine, Peter enjoys weightlifting, practicing his Catholic faith, and spending time with his wife, who is a physician, as they prepare to welcome their first child.
