Biography

Rachel Fuerst, MD, is a pediatric ophthalmologist in New Orleans, Louisiana. She specializes in diagnosing and treating eye conditions in children, including strabismus (misaligned eyes), amblyopia (lazy eye) and pediatric cataracts, as well as eyelid growths, blocked tear ducts, retinopathy of prematurity, inherited eye conditions and other eye injuries.

Dr. Fuerst is board-certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology. She received her medical degree from Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center in Shreveport, Louisiana, and completed her internship at Tulane Medical School and residency at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center in New Orleans, Louisiana. She completed a fellowship in pediatric ophthalmology and adult strabismus at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston.

When Dr. Fuerst isn’t practicing medicine, you can find her spending time with her family in local parks, traveling, trying new restaurants and volunteering in Guatemala.
