Rufus Lester “Les” Hixon, M.D. has more than 30 years’ experience in medicine, including 25 as a pediatric cardiologist in Baton Rouge. Dr. Hixon earned a medical degree from Medical College of Georgia, where he also completed a pediatric internship and residency, as well as a pediatric cardiology fellowship. He is a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics and board certified in both pediatrics and pediatric cardiology. Dr. Hixon sees patients at our Ochsner Medical Complex The Grove location.

This was our first visit with Dr. Hixon. First thing I noticed was while we were still at the front window checking in, he walked a mother and her child all the way to the front desk reassuring the little boy of his well-being. I admired that he spent that extra time with him. When we met him in the exam room we were impressed. Dr Hixon gives a relaxed feeling of care and comfort. He spoke to us using words and phrases and even examples that we could understand. Even then, he continued to make sure we did. Our visit never felt rushed. Dr. Hixon was someone I would definitely recommend.
