Dr. Stephen Fortunato practices maternal and fetal medicine at Ochsner Health. He completed his obstetrics and gynecology residency at the University of New Mexico and his fellowship in maternal-fetal medicine at the University of Texas. He came to Ochsner from Southwest Texas Maternal Fetal Medicine. Dr. Fortunato is a full professor through the University of Queensland with over 150 peer-reviewed publications, several book chapters and over 400 abstracts. He is a past president of the Central Associations of OB-GYNs, the oldest OB-GYN society in the country. He was previously managing partner of the Maternal Fetal Group in Nashville, Tennessee, after leaving his prior post as section chief of maternal fetal medicine at Tulane. He has been recognized as in the top 2% of researchers in womens health in the world. Dr. Fortunato has been in practice since 1986. He is also a sommelier, a licensed private pilot and a licensed amateur radio operator.
