Zohreh S. Soltani, MD, FACP, FASN, practices transplant nephrology at Ochsner Health. Dr. Soltani has expertise in the care of patients undergoing kidney transplants, managing their health both before and after the transplant, including evaluating potential recipients, overseeing the transplant process, monitoring for rejection, and managing immunosuppressive medications to ensure the kidney functions properly; essentially acting as the primary care physician for transplant patients throughout their post-transplant journey. She received her medical degree from the Hamadan University of Medical Sciences, Iran. Her post-graduate training includes one-year research fellowship at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health; an internal medicine residency at the Nassau University Medical Center, New York; and a nephrology fellowship at the Louisiana State University Health Science Center, New Orleans. Dr. Soltani was a clinical assistant professor at the Nephrology Section at LSU Health Sciences Center (LSUHSC-NO) for five years before performing a fellowship in transplant nephrology at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Dr. Soltani is board-certified in internal medicine and nephrology. She is a published author of various articles and has over 18 years of experience as principal and co-investigator in clinical nephrology trials. Dr. Soltani is a senior lecturer at the University of Queensland and merit assistant professor at LSUHSC-NO. She also holds membership in several professional organizations such as the American Society of Transplant, the American Society of Nephrology, and the American College of Physicians. Dr. Soltani is dedicated to addressing the medical needs of their patients while understanding individual concerns and goals. She has been practicing at Ochsner since 2017. Outside of medicine, she enjoys cooking, and traveling and playing chess.
