Alton Ochsner Society
The Alton Ochsner Society, established in 1982, is a distinguished group of donors who have joined together to help ensure Ochsner’s position as a global medical and academic leader. The annual unrestricted gifts of Ochsner Society members guarantee that lifesaving treatments, excellent medical education and innovative research will always be available at Ochsner. Volunteer
Each year, hundreds of volunteers donate thousands of hours to Ochsner patients and their families, staff and programs. From greeting visitors in the lobby to delivering mail to patients to entering data and answering phones, Ochsner volunteers give back in many ways, contributing their skills and strengths to help Ochsner maintain high standards of excellence in patient care.
Give Blood
The Ochsner Blood Bank currently supports over 70% of Ochsner's blood needs for patients at Ochsner hospitals. In addition, Ochsner Blood Bank participates in blood-resource sharing with other local community hospitals.
Blood is needed every five seconds – for babies, leukemia patients, burn victims, emergency surgeries, organ transplants, trauma patients and more. Few acts are as simple, and yet so generous, as donating blood. And the only source for this blood is you, the volunteer donor. Volunteers donate all of this country's blood supply for transfusions. Simply put, there is no other source. Ochsner needs your help to ensure a safe and adequate blood supply for the community. Blood donations by appointment are preferred.
