Biography
Dr. Knudson earned his medical degree and PhD in physiology from Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center in New Orleans. He completed his residency and fellowships in pediatric cardiology and non-invasive cardiac imaging at Texas Children’s Hospital/Baylor College of Medicine in Houston.
He has held academic and leadership roles across multiple pediatric heart centers, including serving as division chief, medical director of pediatric cardiac intensive care, and director of ECMO services. ECMO stands for extra corporeal membrane oxygenation. ECMO is a form of life support for the heart and/or lungs outside of a patient's body. A dedicated educator, Dr. Knudson has lectured extensively and mentored students, residents and fellows in both clinical and research settings.
He is a fellow of the American College of Cardiology and an active member of the Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care Society and the Society of Critical Care Medicine.
