COVID-19 UPDATE
NEW VISITOR POLICY
For the safety and security of our patients and staff, as well guidelines from the Department of Health, Ochsner has a ZERO visitor policy in both the hospital and clinic setting. There are limited exceptions, defined by the state, for one essential visitor of a hospitalized patient.
•Essential visitors are the spouse/partner of a laboring mom, parent/guardian of a child, spouse/significant other of a critically ill patient, spouse/caregiver of an infusion patient, family member/significant other of a palliative care patient or the support person for someone with special needs.
•Each essential visitor will have their temperature checked as they enter the facility. Any visitor with a temperature of 100.4 or greater will not be allowed to enter the hospital.
•Visitors residing where community-based spread of COVID-19 is occurring will be asked to wear a mask. In Louisiana, this is defined as anyone in Greater New Orleans.
•Visitation is not allowed to
1) Any person experiencing signs/symptoms of a respiratory infection, such as fever, cough, shortness of breath, or sore throat;
2) Any person who, in the last 14 days, has been in contact with a confirmed/investigated Covid-19 patient;
3) Any person returning from international travel within the last 14 days to countries with sustained transmission.
Every effort is being made in the clinic setting to minimize exposure between patients under the weather and those coming to an Ochsner Health Center for specialized care. Staff will begin taking the temperature of every person before they enter the clinic. Anyone with a temperature of 100.4 or greater will be provided with different options for care, including, but not limited to, Ochsner Anywhere Care or calling the Ochsner help line at 1-844-888-2772.
Guests will no longer be allowed into an Ochsner Health Center unless that guest is an immediate caregiver of a patient.
We appreciate your understanding.
