Juan Vargas, MD, specializes in obstetrics and gynecology at Ochsner Health in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Dr. Vargas received his medical degree from Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center (LSUHSC) in New Orleans in 2002. He went on to complete his residency in OB/GYN at LSUHSC in New Orleans in 2006, where he was awarded the OB/GYN Intern of the Year award. He then joined the LSU faculty as an assistant professor and was named Medical Student Site Director and Associate Residency Program Director during his tenure. He was recognized for his teaching by being nominated for the Excellence in Teaching award. Dr. Vargas is board-certified in obstetrics and gynecology. He has been on staff at Ochsner since 2013, and has been practicing medicine since 2002. Dr. Vargas currently sees patients at multiple clinic locations in Baton Rouge and delivers babies at Ochsner Medical Center - Baton Rouge. He provides care for all obstetric and gynecologic needs, including supervision of pregnancy (low and high risk), abnormal or painful menses, fibroids, PCOS, endometriosis, infertility, ovarian cysts, abnormal pap results, colposcopy, menopause and post-menopausal bleeding. He has a special clinical interest in minimally invasive and robotic surgery. He is the site head for women's services. Given his teaching background, Dr. Vargas strongly believes in patient education and helping guide patients in making their healthcare choices. He enjoys traveling and spending quality time with his family during his free time.
