Biography
Robert G. Voigt, MD specializes in developmental-behavioral pediatrics (DBP)/neurodevelopmental disabilities (NDD) and serves as the system medical director of the Michael R. Boh Centers for Child Development at Ochsner Childrens. A graduate of Johns Hopkins University and New York University School of Medicine, he completed pediatric residency at Baylor College of Medicine (BCM) and fellowship in NDD/DBP at the Medical University of South Carolina and BCM. He was previously the Leopold L. Meyer Endowed Professor and Director of the Meyer Center for Developmental Pediatrics at Texas Children's Hospital. His research and educational efforts have produced 107 peer-reviewed journal articles, two books edited, one book section edited, and 19 book chapters. Dr. Voigt has previously served as pediatric residency program director for the Mayo Clinic in Minnesota and DBP fellowship program director at both the Mayo Clinic and BCM. His educational mentorship was recognized by his induction into the Mayo Clinic Teacher of the Year Hall of Fame in 2008, his receipt of the 2022 BCM Department of Pediatrics Arnold J. Rudolph Award for Lifetime Excellence in Education., and his receipt of the 2023 Jan Goddard-Finegold Memorial Award for Lifetime Achievement in Developmental Pediatrics Education. His research mentorship was nationally recognized by an Academic Pediatric Association Award for Outstanding Mentorship in 2011. Dr. Voigt has served as program chair and newsletter editor for the AAP's Section on DBP, as chair of the Developmental-Behavioral Pediatrics Subboard of the American Board of Pediatrics, and on the Board of Directors, Co-Chair of the Fellowship Training Section, and currently as President-Elect of the Society for DBP. He has served as editor-in-chief of the first and second editions of the AAP textbook, Developmental and Behavioral Pediatrics, and as a member of the Editorial Board for the journals Pediatrics and Journal of Developmental and Behavioral Pediatrics.
