Biography
Tarek Abdallah, MD, specializes in pulmonology at Ochsner Health. Dr. Abdallah brings a wealth of education and experience to his patients. After earning his medical degree at the Lebanese University Faculty of Medical Sciences in Beirut, Lebanon, in 2003, he continued his training in the United States. He completed his residency in internal medicine in 2009, and his fellowship in pulmonary diseases and critical care medicine in 2015, at Staten Island University Hospital Northwell Health in New York. Dr. Abdallah has been practicing in Louisiana since 2015, and joined Ochsner in 2018. Demonstrating his commitment to staying at the forefront of his field, he completed a one-year fellowship in sleep medicine at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston - Texas Medical Center in 2024. Dr. Abdallah offers expertise in a wide range of lung and sleep disorders. He treats asthma, COPD, pleural diseases, sarcoidosis and autoimmune lung disorders, lung cancer and staging, sleep apnea, excessive sleepiness, insomnia, restless leg syndrome and parasomnias. Dr. Tarek Abdallah is board-certified in Internal Medicine, Pulmonary Diseases, Critical Care Medicine, and Sleep Medicine.

I was seeing a specialist outside of Ochsner care but, because of the level of knowledge AND CARING experienced with Dr. Abdallah...I am canceling those care appointments so I can be followed for them by him. He also laid out the options for me in a way that I could see it was to my benefit to take a medication I have been reluctant to try. He didn't try to convince me... He presented the pros, cons, and cautions. Knowing those... I decided.
Dr Abdullah is very knowledgeable about his field of work. That's what I've been looking for. He took plenty of time to talk about my problems and sent me for tests to get to just what the problem is.
1st time I've seen this physian I like him alot. Will recommend him

Dr. Abdullah went step-by-step through evaluating my situation with me, and allowed for my input and questions before he designed a plan of care. I really appreciate this. Very, very compassionate doctor, and excellent Expertise Very comfortable and felt like I could trust his knowledge and expertise.
