The Ochsner Hospital for Children Pediatric Neurosurgery Program offers parents and their children the premier program in Louisiana and the Gulf South. The nationally-ranked program provides surgical care through an integrated and comprehensive team of board-certified physicians specially trained to provide children and babies with relief from congenital defects and traumatic injuries of the brain and spinal cord.
The program is able to treat all types of central nervous system tumors in child patients. The multi-disciplinary team works with each patient’s family to develop a customized treatment approach designed to their specific condition. Treatment options include non-surgical and surgical approaches. The team promotes active and ongoing clinical research offering patients additional options beyond the standard of care.
Non-surgical treatment options include the use on non-invasive radiosurgery. Ochsner Pediatric Neurosurgery Program surgeons are among Louisiana and the Gulf South region’s most experienced in using this technique as well as Gamma Knife and linear accelerator-based technologies to treat tumors.
