The Ochsner Heart and Vascular Institute (OHVI) is a comprehensive cardiac and peripheral vascular care center consisting of six sections representing a continuum of care unmatched in the Gulf Coast region. Through ongoing research initiatives, physician training programs and clinical trials, OHVI continues to set the standard for diagnosis and treatment of heart disease.

Through the efforts of our physicians, medical staff and research teams, we have developed breakthrough approaches to the diagnosis and treatment of cardiovascular disease. By providing the finest patient care available anywhere, combined with modern and technologically sophisticated diagnostic and treatment capabilities, we offer a complete and comprehensive approach to the management of cardiovascular disease. 

A History of Patient-Focused Innovation 
Through the years, the Ochsner Clinics and Foundation Hospital have become synonymous with innovative medical treatment and cutting-edge research. Within this environment of excellence and proven ability, OHVI has become an internationally recognized leader in the diagnosis and treatment of heart disease.

Today, OHVI boasts 27 staff cardiologists, 2 assistant staff cardiologists, 2 vascular medicine specialists, 18 cardiology fellows, 2 interventional cardiology fellows, and 15 midlevel providers. The staff work in modern, technologically advanced facilities including the Main Campus hospital with 45 dedicated cardiovascular beds and a 13-bed coronary care unit, clinic offices, 10 echocardiographic/vascular non-invasive laboratories, and 6 fully equipped catheterization laboratories. In addition to the Main Campus facilities, OHVI has 7 outpatient satellite clinics, all strategically located in the Southeastern Louisiana region.

Of particular importance to our success is the personal interest taken in each patient's care and our practice of communicating regularly with the referring physician. Our toll-free Cardiology Hotline, 1-800-662-6247, enables referring physicians to consult directly with the OHVI cardiologists of their choice while providing a vehicle for convenient referral of a patient directly to the Institute. Because we feel that the primary care physician's knowledge of patient history is critical to effective diagnosis and treatment, the referring physician receives regular updates on his/her patient's care and progress while at OHVI, and the patient is sent back to the referring physician upon discharge, along with a full medical follow-up report including recommendations for follow-up treatment and care.
