Ochsner American Legion Hospital is a 49-bed hospital in Jennings, Louisiana, providing compassionate, high-quality medical care close to home. Since opening, the hospital has supported generations of families across Southwest Louisiana with comprehensive services, including cardiology care, IV infusion services, respiratory therapy, OB/GYN, surgical care and emergency medicine.

Cardiology care at Ochsner American Legion Hospital 

Ochsner American Legion Hospital’s cardiology team is led by highly trained cardiologists with extensive experience in diagnosing and treating heart disease. Our cardiology department offers the only heart catheterization lab between Lake Charles and Lafayette, as well as a full cardiopulmonary rehabilitation facility.

Heart catheterization lab

Heart catheterization is a key diagnostic and treatment tool for a wide range of heart conditions, including congestive heart failure, coronary artery disease, peripheral artery disease, heart valve problems, irregular heart rhythms, congenital heart defects and pulmonary hypertension. 

Our heart catheterization lab provides advanced diagnostic and interventional services, including:

  • Diagnostic coronary angiography
  • Echocardiograms
  • Nuclear stress testing

Cardiopulmonary rehabilitation

Our cardiopulmonary rehabilitation facility supports patients recovering from serious heart and lung conditions, including:

  • Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD)
  • Coronary artery bypass grafting
  • Heart transplants
  • Myocardial infarction
  • Percutaneous transluminal coronary angioplasty (PTCA) or stent placement
  • Stable angina
  • Valve replacement

This physician-supervised program uses state-of-the-art monitoring and tailored exercise plans to help patients build strength, improve lung and heart function and make lasting lifestyle changes for a successful recovery.

Infusion center at Ochsner American Legion Hospital 

Our infusion center provides chemotherapy and non-chemotherapy infusions, including iron infusions, immunotherapies, antibiotics and other advanced treatments close to home.
 
Open Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., the clinic accepts referrals from any provider.
 
The infusion team, made up of experienced local nurses and providers, is dedicated to walking alongside patients through every step of their journey, including the bell-ringing tradition that celebrates milestones in cancer care.

Radiology and imaging services at Ochsner American Legion Hospital 

Ochsner American Legion Hospital offers a full-range of radiology services, including:

  • 64-slice CT
  • Mammograms
  • Ultrasounds
  • MRIs
  • Nuclear medicine

This department is equipped with updated, modernized imaging machines, including two GE Logic-7 ultrasound machines, a new Phillips Bright View Nuclear Camera, a RADREX-i Dual Detector Digital Radiography System and two PACS systems. For surgeries, our team utilizes a OEC c-arm 9600 with the goal of reducing pain and recovery time for our patients.

Ochsner American Legion Hospital is only hospital in southwest Louisiana with breast-specific gamma imaging, which is one of the most advanced diagnostic tools for mammography. Through multiple clinical studies, this type of imaging has demonstrated a high sensitivity for identifying earlier stage cancers. 

Respiratory therapy at Ochsner American Legion Hospital 

Ochsner American Legion Hospital's respiratory department offers a wide range of services, including complete pulmonary function tests. 

Pulmonary function tests are a group of tests that measure how well a patient's lungs work, including how well they actually breathe and how effectively oxygen is transported to vital parts of the body. 

These tests are usually ordered if you are having symptoms of lung problems, as part of a routine physical or to assess how well your lungs are functioning before undergoing surgery.

Ochsner American Legion Hospital provides surgical and post-surgical care. The friendly and community-oriented environment is ideal for patients' comfort.
