Biography
William J. Carter, MD, FACP , received his medical degree from the University of Alabama School of Medicine. Following medical school, he completed his residency at the State University of New York (SUNY) Downstate Medical Center in Brooklyn. Dr. Carter specializes in Hospital Medicine at Ochsner Medical Center in New Orleans. He is a Senior Physician who has worked with Ochsner since 2008. Academically, Dr. Carter is on the faculty for the Internal Medicine Residency Department, as well as the third-year student Medicine Clerkship Director for the University of Queensland and Ochsner Clinical School. He serves as the schools faculty advisor for the Wilderness Medicine Student Interest Group, and is an instructor for the Stop the Bleed program. During his free time, Dr. Carter enjoys scouting with his children, picking up trash in his neighborhood, volunteering and sailing.
