Anna Pou, MD

Dr. Pou treated me for tongue cancer in 2013 at Mary Byrd. I can't praise her enough for her professional and personal care that she gives. I considered it a privilege to have had her and her staff to work with.

I was very impressed by my visit with Dr. Pou. She explained my condition, and showed me my films of where my problem was located. I did not feel rushed, and I found Dr Pou very relaxing to speak with. I would recommend Dr Pou to anyone that needs an E.N.T. physician.

Just wanted to give you your props for doing your absolute best in such a hellish situation. Those patients were being left to die and there was nothing you could do but make sure they didn’t suffer.. thank you.

Dr. Pou is one of the most empathetic and technically savvy head and neck surgeons / doctors I’ve known. She has taken such good care of my family and friends and I cannot say enough good things about her. You are in good hands with her as your doctor.

I greatly appreciate your compassion, caring and courage to truly help people in a most hellish situation.

She did what was necessary and humanized the deaths of those people. Inhuman was the decision to evacuate the facility leaving all those people alive behind, willing for a terrible passing. There relies the horror in this all story. People must understand that sometimes we have to make rough decisions in life and sometimes we are faced with one of those dilemas we think that only exists in fiction

Read the reviews of her actual patients. Don’t pass judgement based on some dramatization you saw on TV.

I don’t think it’s fair for those coming here and rating her a star and they haven’t even met the woman. If it were you, if you were unable to move or were deathly sick and had to be left there - would you rather wait there and suffer? Starve, dehydrate, suffocating if you needed oxygen, not to mention being in 100° weather in a dark building that smelled of death. They didn’t get to those who were left for 10 days. That would’ve been a slow absolutely hellish death. You would’ve been wishing you were dead. If one somehow miraculously survived, imagine the psychological trauma that they would have suffered. I don’t think anyone would have survived the 10 days in those conditions, seeing as they were also the worst off patients. Moreover, if anyone should blame anyone, it should be our governments response to their pleas. Its a situation that could’ve been handled so much better, but wasn’t. If upon leaving, she was trying to give them the meds for their comfort and pain, they still wouldn’t have survived the 10 days. All these doctors, her included, VOLUNTEERED their assistance. While I think it’s so important to learn of the disaster at Memorial Hospital, it does Pou a disservice of all those who can’t understand the hardships of working in an impossible situation

Bless you and all of those that worked tirelessly during Katrina and for showing mercy for those suffering so horribly without a future in sight.

Shame on people leaving one star reviews because they watched a TV show. I personally would never want to be left alone to suffocate in an abandoned hospital in 100 degree heat, no food, no water, no caretakers. People seem to forget the government FORCED every medical personal out of the hospital. This is a HUMAN BEING who did her best in an impossible situation. It's easy to judge her sitting in our air cinditioned homes behind our smart phones with no accountability for our words. There are fates worse than death, and I'm grateful this doc didn't leave her patients to suffer a miserable death. If God's will was to have these patients suffer, that's not a God I want to believe in. Check your privilege before you type out an ugly review for a doctor you've never meet who went through a trauma you have never been through.
