Dr. Katerina Boucek practices pediatric cardiology at Ochsner Health. Dr. Boucek received her undergraduate degree from the University of Texas at Austin and completed medical school at the University of Central Florida. She completed her pediatric residency and pediatric cardiology fellowship at the Medical University of South Carolina, as well as an advanced fellowship in pediatric heart failure, transplant and mechanical circulatory support at Cincinnati Children's Hospital. She is board certified in General Pediatrics and Pediatric Cardiology by the American Board of Pediatrics. Dr. Boucek has a strong interest in academics. Her recent published work has spanned multiple different topics within the field of pediatric cardiology including the operative management of tetralogy of Fallot, the noninvasive detection of cardiac rejection in heart transplant recipients and risk stratification of pediatric patients with ventricular assist devices. Her passion is supporting children with heart failure and improving outcomes for those requiring advanced cardiac therapies. She joined the team at Ochsner with the goal of expanding the pediatric ventricular assist device program to offer long and short-term support options for patients of all different ages and for those with complex congenital heart disease. She is an active member in the Pediatric Heart Transplant Society, ACTION Network and International Society of Heart and Lung transplant. Outside of the hospital she enjoys spending time on the water, live music and exploring the endless number of delicious restaurants that New Orleans has to offer.
