Our mission is to advance knowledge to improve clinical practices and the health and well-being of our community. In partnership, we are building capacity for identifying health disparities and strategies to improve health equity in our communities.

Outcomes Research at Ochsner Health

Ochsner Community Research Advisory Network allows Ochsner investigators to tap into patient and family members at any part of the research process. Services include:

  • Identifying research questions of interest to patients
  • Refining patient recruitment, consent forms and data collection procedures
  • Selecting patient reported outcome measures
  • Consulting on best practices for dissemination of research results

The Office of Epidemiology and Biostatistics collaborates with researchers to:

  • Develop the statistical analysis areas for grant applications and ​study protocols
  • Design analytic data files
  • Perform advanced data analytics
  • Assist with drafting academic products such as abstracts and manuscripts

Clinical Research Informatics utilizes electronic health record​ data to analyze and support research projects. Services include:

  • Clinical trial feasibility
  • Research data collection
  • Text processing
  • Trial recruitment optimization
  • Data source integration
  • Gene expression analysis and visualization

Research Database

Ochsner Health System is a member of the Research Action for Health Network (REACHnet), a Clinical Data Research Network (CDRN) supported by PCORnet: The National Patient-Centered Clinical Research Network. REACHnet contains clinical data for 1.7 million active patients and over 4 million total patients across southeastern Louisiana and Texas. Ochsner and participating institutions contribute data to REACHnet’s data warehouse for 1) research use cases supported by participating institutions and 2) approved external research projects. Data are held in a standardized format (Common Data Model, CDM) and consist of clinical data from inpatient, outpatient, and emergency department visits.
